Karnaphuli River, Bangladesh

Karnaphuli  is the largest and very important river in Chittagong rgion, Bangladesh. The river is about 667 meters wide and flows 270 kilo-meters long way in the south-eastern part of Bangladesh. It originate from the Lushai hills in Mizoram state of India and travels mountainous through Chittagong Hill Tracts and fall into Bay of Bengal near Chittagong port.




A large hydroelectric power plant using Karnaphuli river was built in the Kaptai region and produces a total of 230 megawatts of electricity during the 1960s. Kaptai Dam created the Kaptai Lake. Kaptai Lake is a significant beautiful charming place and important travel spot in Bangladesh.
